I haven’t practiced all that much during break… actually, honestly–I haven’t been practicing at all. However, that will change! Starting tomorrow! I won’t have much time to practice during the semester, so I’ve gotta get my game on right now. Over night!

On the brighter side, I’m getting a lesson on Tuesday! :)

Merry Christmas!

I feel like I’ve reached an epiphany today. After playing in 3 services, someone said goodbye to me and wished me a Merry Christmas…actually a couple people did throughout the day. I reacted the same way I normally do.. which is something along the lines of looking towards the ground and making a slight scowl then grin out of embarrassment. I’ve never understood why I reacted the way I do–but then suddenly I realized that it wasn’t a very nice reaction. I mean, they did wish me a Merry Christmas. Why scowl?

I am too serious sometimes. It is idiotic of me to be so serious sometimes. I mean, who cares if they deeply thought about wishing happiness or just gave a light expression of goodwill. I should accept it graciously instead of being embarrassed. Anyways, Christmas is over and next time I’ll know what to do when someone wishes me to be merry.

I’m being serious about it even now I guess. Oh well. Merry Christmas!

Semester and Year Recap

Posted in Music Studies on December 24th, 2009 by Yu-Ting – Be the first to comment

Even though I only took 14 units this semester.. it feels like it was the busiest. I learned a whole lot as usual. I think I learned a lot this year in general. I’m reading some of my old entries from last year and that old life of mine feels incredibly far away. Here is the summary of my year?

January: Gardening. CMEA Conference. Inauguration of the new president.
February: Feeling miserable and depressed. Life fails..but a bit of Shostakovich and Beethoven makes the world brighter.
March: Masterclass. “I want a easy life” so I say. Stravinsky is cool. I’m trying to motivate myself to live with more energy my emailing myself motivational messages. Stupid? Idiotic? Hey, it works apparently. Spring Break=freedom!! 365 Days of Food begins?
April: I’m totally digging some classic big band music. 120 is totally getting to me. Not going to Taiwan afterall. Starts looking for some summer festival options. Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto research. I like the piece, not my paper though. Looking for my practice bug!
May: Summer plans are decided! Vivace in PA. Marrowstone in WA. YMI in Berkeley. Fanime.
June: Yan Can Cook! Goodbye Cypress. T_T I’ll miss you Jennifer. I learned a lot from you all. Vivace was fun. I cried because I got homesick because the pasta was just not right. =_=;
July: Practice, Practice, Practice! Digital time capsule. My gaydar is horrible. Really horrible. *sigh* Budget cuts are depressing. I don’t know who my new teacher will be. I can’t work as many hours as I can now. I’m feeling poor. I hate cellphones and email. Maybe Marrowstone would have been more enjoyable if I wasn’t worrying so much. BUT! I did learn a lot. I like Hindemith. :D
August: Practice! New philosophy=GO FOR IT! Even if you’re scared or obviously not ready. Failed a bit here and there… but now I’m not so scared. Life happens. Shit happens. I need to get over it and run towards my goal.
September: I hate crying, but Bruce is cool, so it’s okay. I wouldn’t have minded if he became my teacher. Irene Dalis is so cool. I like the Keeping Score website interactive for Beethoven’s Eroica! XD
October: Failed my Form and Analysis quiz! ): All just stupid mistakes. New Cello Teacher! YAY! I like trombone. :D
November: Life happens. Really tired. Yelled at. Cried. Played horribly. Life is horrible. I am feeling apathetic slightly. Berlin Philharmonic. Life is wonderful. Goodbye Prof. Hodge. RIP. Life is sad. I am tired. So tired.
December: I continue feeling terrible. No juries because I didn’t get enough lessons with Tanya. (So I should have gotten an incomplete for Applied Lessons…) Performances happened. I won’t judge how “well” I did. Kathy is sick=I hope her teachers know that it’s because of them.

Now I am here. I shall make new goals! @_@ So incredibly close to graduation! YAY!

Vivaldi Double Cello Concerto

It isn’t as bad as I remember it. But oh gosh, I sound super loud and totally out of tune.
